Leslie Shelley
Leslie Shelley grew up in the midst of a large rural family in the foothills of North Georgia. Rural life was filled with tale tales, tragic life stories, warm wonderful times with friends and family made bigger, better, or worse, by the stories and adventures that filled out the days. She was fortunate to grow up in an environment filled with wonderful story tellers at a time when people sat on the porch at night sharing life. A lot of wisdom snuck in the stories, shrewdly hidden amongst the tears and laughter.
Telling stories was just part of life, and Leslie, like so many from the Southern area, found herself sharing stories and tales routinely without giving it much thought. She has been sharing stories for almost 40 years. Her stories range from ghost stories of ancestors, school-based storytelling, festivals, faith-based programs, fairy tales, tall tales, myths and legends, and life events. Leslie strongly believes in the power of stories to bring hope, encouragement and healing.
She is a member of the Southern Order of Storytellers, has been a teller in the Peach State Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, the Big Fibbers Festival in Rome, Georgia, The Bear on the Square in Dahlonega, Georgia, The Georgia Mountain Storytelling Festival in Blairsville, Georgia, the Cobb Heritage Festival and Cobb Tellebration in Marietta, Georgia.
